Dividers should leave sufficient clearance for labels, caps and decorative finishes. Heavy glass bottles may require stronger corrugated partitions, additional base support or cushioning.

Base, Body and Neck Supports

A base platform distributes bottle weight across the insert and prevents the container from dropping through an opening. Body supports limit side movement, while shoulder or neck collars help keep tall bottles upright.

The insert should normally hold the container rather than applying pressure directly to a pump, dropper, atomizer or spray head. Additional upper clearance should also prevent the box lid from activating the closure.

The completed package should be reviewed with the actual filled bottles. Ecommerce and long-distance distribution projects may require structural samples and transit testing.

The bottle remains responsible for containing the product. Standard paperboard packaging cannot prevent leakage from a damaged or incorrectly sealed closure. Protective bags, absorbent pads or liners may be considered where leakage risk exists.
